I've tried to do Step 4 three times in 8 years. This is the first time I actually finished it. The structure made it feel doable, not like I was confessing to a blank wall. The resentment prompts especially — they got at things I'd been circling around for years without being able to say them.

Bought this for my sponsee. He finished it in two weeks. That's the fastest any of my guys has moved through Step 4. Something about having a real workbook versus just being told to write it down — it changes the energy.

The self-care section at the end is what got me. It's rare for a Step 4 resource to acknowledge that doing this work is emotionally heavy and you need to take care of yourself while you do it. That felt seen.

I'm a therapist who works with clients in recovery. I've used this with three clients now as a supplement to our sessions. It gives the work somewhere to live between appointments. The format is clean and doesn't feel clinical — that matters.
